Novel Microwave Process for Sintering large, high-purity alumina parts

SYNO-THERM has recently developed the microwave technology for sintering large-scale, high-purity (99.95%) alumina parts. Currently, 250×30 mm alumina parts are sintered to a density over 3.90g/cc, via the microwave sintered process. They are currently working on a process to sinter alumina sample over 600×40 mm.
Compared to the conventional technology (using MoSi2 heating elements), the microwave sintering technology is far superior, boasting a 60% shorter sintering period and over 80% economization of electricity. Overall, this amounts to a 35% reduction in total product cost. Also, microwave processing of materials is an environmentally friendly technology.
